IDEA: in minsta, if the player has not ammo and health decreases, swap the extra life (if player has it) for another 100HP instead of not taking it into account at all.

defeats the whole purpose. You don't die from lack of health, you die because you kill yourself. Game message is "what's the point of living without any ammo?" -- that doesn't add up with extra lives. Additionally, it'll be a pain in the ass to code notifications for it with extra lives, so no.
